Technical features
Papanicolaou stain is a polychrome stain for cytological specimens both for GYN and NON-GYN.
The method is based on a nuclear aqueous-based stain and two cytoplasmic alcoholic-based stains.
Hematoxylin is normally used for blue staining of nuclei, OG6, and EA50 solution as cytoplasm dyes. OG6 is the staining solution that highlights the cytoplasm into keratinized cells.
